
The Grammy Awards are the world's largest music event. The Recording Academy of America bestows the award each year. This is the first time that an album has been nominated for this coveted prize, and it includes a song from two Bangladeshi musicians, Dr. Nashid Kamal and Armeen Musa.
The album is called 'Shuruaat'. It was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Global Music Album. The album has 10 songs. Armeen Musa performs the ninth song, 'Jaago Piya' written by her mother, Nazrul Musician Dr. Nashid Kamal. The album 'Shuruaat' was nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. As a result of this, Bangladesh's first artist's song was nominated for a Grammy Award.
On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1423, Berklee College of Music released the song 'Jaago Piya.'
Shreya Ghoshal, Vijay Prakash, Shashank Navaladi, Zakir Hussain, Dhruv Goel, Shankar Mahadevan, Sharon Reynolds, and Shadow and Light perform other songs. The vocalists were not nominated for the record, but their band Berklee Indian Ensemble was. The title of Armin Musad's CD may be seen on the Grammy website. In this category, four other albums were nominated. These include 'Love, Damini' by Burna Boy, 'Queen of Sheba' by Angelique Kijo and Ibrahim Malouf, 'Between Us... (Live)' by Anushka Shankar, Metropole Orchestra and Jules Buckley featuring Manu Delago, and 'Sakura' by Masa Takumi.
Berklee Indian Ensemble is a group of Berklee College of Music graduates from Massachusetts, USA. Armin Musa, who graduated from this college, also joined the Alumni organisation. 'Shuruat' is the title of these students' group album. Armin Musa expressed his delight after learning that his collection of songs has been nominated for the 65th Grammy Awards. He expressed his heartbreak by saying that he was able to reach such heights due of his mother's touch in the song.
The Grammys will be presented to the winners at a big event on February 5, 2019 in Los Angeles.
